Féria Mundial event held at Shepard Middle School, showcased culture from foreign countries around the world. After much research, students participated in demonstrations of food, music, and dance. The community, students, and staff created a festive learning experience that celebrates the unique qualities found in each country, culture, and people.
This special assignment is a fun tradition now at SISD. It is a district wide competition during “Freedom” week and “Constitution” week. Each student is asked to draw an image that captures the meaning of freedom, independence and patriotism for our country, state, city or school. The district winner this year is 3rd grader Luzelena Saucedo, from Pearce Primary. This image will be the official 2018 Southside ISD Fiesta medal. Fiesta medals will be on sale in the spring. For information on medals, call Central Office. Original article in the Southside Newsletter here.
