San Antonio ISD’s Out-of-This-World Opportunity for Summer Camp Students

SAISD’s Out-of-This-World Opportunity for Summer Camp Students

San Antonio ISD’s Harris Middle School gave its students an amazing experience in the STEM field during their all-new summer camp.

Around 20 students participated in the camp that specializes in aerospace engineering. Students built rockets, flew drones, programmed robots, and more. The summer camp also provided a field trip to Dallas to visit the Frontiers Flight Museum. What started as an after-school program led to the students gaining more extensive STEM education to prepare them for college-level learning.

The STEM summer camp is funded by The League of United Latin American Citizens National Education Service Center.  The league aims to better conditions and provide opportunities to Latin American citizens across the country. The grant strives to help minority students engage and become prepared for STEM-centered higher education. Harris Middle School is also an International Baccalaureate (IB) school where the curriculum emphasizes college readiness.
