The Ed White Middle School CyberPatriot team, coined “The Cyber Eagles” are enjoying hard-earned recognitions after placing first in the city, second in the state of Texas and 46th in the nation after state round competition hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University. The CyberPatriot program is designed by the US government to educate and train young people how to actively protect computer vulnerabilities from hacking attacks. They defend against various attacks on several different operating systems in three qualifying rounds of competitions that last six hours each.
This intense competition has brought out the best in the Cyber Eagles—named after the school mascot. It’s a focus endurance test for the students as they need an attention to detail and great research skills to compete effectively. Joining the CyberPatriot program prepares students for careers in all fields of cyber security, from business applications to government positions.
