MR. REY MADRIGAL, SUPERINTENDENT
As a proud product of Harlandale ISD, I am committed to ensuring our district provides a high quality education where all students graduate to become productive and successful citizens for the 21st century.
This year our district theme is Honoring Tradition, Inspiring Change. Education has always been at the heart of our community’s culture. Children of Harlandale first attended school in the Granary of San Jose Mission in 1888. We honor tradition as we continue to provide opportunities to enrich our students’ lives.
Inspiring change means that we begin with the end in mind. Passing students on to the next grade and having them graduate from high school is a given. But our aim is higher than that. Our sights are set on having our students attend college, universities and other institutes of higher learning. Our goal is to prepare them to complete their degrees and be career ready.
At Harlandale ISD, we are a family working together to enrich our student’s lives with high-quality education and life-changing opportunities.
School Boards are elected by the community and are required to participate in three types of continuing education. "School Boards build a bridge between the community and schools. They're your voice. They listen to community members, school staff, and students and share these messages with the superintendents. They advocate for their school district by speaking up for them to local officials and others in the community. They set direction for the districts." --From the Texas Association of School Boards' video, "What Do School Boards Do?"
