SCHERTZ- CIBOLO- UNIVERSAL CITY AFJROTC STAFF NAMED OUTSTANDING INSTRUCTORS
The Air Force JROTC named several Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD AFJROTC advisors as Outstanding Instructors. This award honored instructors at Samuel Clemens High School and Byron P. Steele High School.
The 2019-2020 Outstanding Instructor of the Year for Region 3 went to Lt. Col (Ret) Eric Bass. Bass is an AFJROTC instructor at Samuel Clemens High School. He is one of only 16 AFJROTC instructors in the nation to earn the prestigious title. In addition to honoring the instructors’ exemplary contributions to students, the award recognizes their impacts on their cadets, schools, and community.
“I am incredibly blessed to be recognized,” Lt. Col Bass said. Fellow Clemens High School AFJROTC instructors SMSgt (Ret) Catherine Butler and CMSgt (Ret) Jeffrey Gideon also made the Outstanding Instructor List. “I am fortunate enough to have an All-Star team in Butler and Gideon and am excited to see them being recognized for their efforts.” In addition to these instructors, CMSgt (Ret) Joseph Johnson of Byron P. Steele High School earned Outstanding Instructor Award accolades.

The Outstanding Instructor Award is presented to just 231 of the nearly 1,900 Air Force JROTC instructors across the globe. Above all, the organization’s motto is “Building Better Citizens for America”, and these instructors live those words. Therefore, Shertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD is proud to honor these inspiring men and women!
