The student organization, FFA (Future Farmers of America), provides leadership and personal growth opportunities, as well as public speaking skills. One of the main components of the Ag/FFA program is the livestock program. This program allows students to purchase and raise a livestock species of their choice and exhibit at different stock shows. Students care for the animals and learn everything from hard work to acceptance due to loss when they have to sell their animals at the end of show season. Leadership, responsibility, hard work, integrity and growth are its benefits.
FFA was featured in February's Cool School contest on SA Live.

This special assignment is a fun tradition now at SISD. It is a district wide competition during “Freedom” week and “Constitution” week. Each student is asked to draw an image that captures the meaning of freedom, independence and patriotism for our country, state, city or school. The district winner this year is 3rd grader Luzelena Saucedo, from Pearce Primary. This image will be the official 2018 Southside ISD Fiesta medal. Fiesta medals will be on sale in the spring. For information on medals, call Central Office. Original article in the Southside Newsletter here.
