Fort Sam Houston Elementary School students dominated 7,000 schools throughout the nation in the PepsiCo Recycling Rally! The students won first place in the competition.
The annual competition encourages community involvement to help the environment by collecting recyclable goods. Principal Joseph Cerna shared that the students collected 1.3 million pounds of recyclable goods from September to March.
“The only reason we stopped, we didn’t return to school after spring break. I think the longer we do this, our intent is to do this next year. It’s going to be a big part of our school culture,” said Cerna.
Hopefully once school is back to normal, Ft. Sam Houston ISD students can once again dominate the recycling challenge!
