Southwest ISD Opens New Aquatic Center

The Aquatic Centers Mission

This school year, Southwest ISD introduced its new aquatic center. The goal of the facility is to focus on water safety, introduce swimming to elementary students, serve the community, train athletes, inspire students to get involved in their community, and provide the necessary skills to ensure their future success.

About the Pools

At over 54,000 square feet, the aquatic center includes two separate pools with seating for 735 spectators. The instructional/recreational pool includes a 4 lane 25-yard course at 3 ½ to 4 ½ feet deep. The competitive pool was designed to be modified with bulkheads to accommodate different swimming courses. Additionally, the pool includes two 1-meter and one 3-meter mexi-flex boards as well as reaching 7 to 13 feet deep.

What will the center offer?

Through-out the year, the center will hold several high school competitions such as dual meets, invitationals, and UIL Districts and Regionals. There are many different programs offered for students including:

High School – Water Polo / Swimming / Diving Water Safety

Learn-to-Swim Program – Elementary (4th and 2nd grade Students)

Southwest ISD’s Highlights in the New Aquatic Center

Students are already making history and taking advantage of the new opportunities the facility has introduced. Sun Valley Elementary was the first group of students to participate in the Learn to Swim program with all other elementary schools following with. Southwest Legacy and Southwest high school both took home historical wins from the new aquatic center with many more to come!
