[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Thanksgiving marked the beginning of the season of giving, and our Houston-area public schools celebrated the holiday spirit with several Thanksgiving projects and activities. Here are a few of the inspiring and exciting ways our students have been honoring the holiday!
The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD nutrition services team provided a Thanksgiving feast for immigrant students at Frazier Elementary School. The New Arrival Center program serves children who are learning American customs and the English language. Many of the students had never experienced a Thanksgiving meal before, and they were able to use this mealtime to open discussions about their own cultural foods and traditions. Humble elementary students love having fun contributing to this community event every year as they bring smiles to the faces of the visitors!

Huffman ISD’s Huffman Elementary School takes Thanksgiving fun beyond the classroom and into the gym! The PE classes worked in teams to build unique “exercise turkeys,” and then they had a blast working out together and seeing what the other teams created.

Clear Creek ISD’s Clear Falls High School students expressed gratitude for their hard-working custodial crew at the sixth annual custodians’ dinner. The event began through the efforts of a student club called the “Litter Bugs,” which was formed by calculus teacher Anthony Tran when he and his students saw a need to help their custodians clean up the large Clear Falls campus. Donations of frozen turkeys were also collected and handed out at the dinner to the custodians in appreciation of their year-round behind-the-scenes dedication!
