HOUSTON AND GULF COAST AREA SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Parents and families face many choices when it comes to their child’s education.  When enrolling in one of Houston area’s Independent School Districts schools, students can discover their potential and thrive. Advanced academics, dual language, and STEM, are just a few of the 180 programs offered. Career pathways within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program gives students a leg up on the job market post graduation.

From PreK through graduation, Houston public schools provide academic and extracurricular programs that contribute to a student’s development. Leadership and character development are interwoven into the fabric of a school’s culture and/or offered through programs. Special education services, free developmental testing, and qualified educators for special needs students are foundational to public schools. Gifted and Talented programs, dual credit, and AP courses offer advanced academics to challenge and prepare students for college.

Traditional public schools provide services that support a student’s health and safety. Nurses, counselors, and child nutrition staff support a child’s well-being.

Most importantly, traditional public school teachers are accredited and many have advanced degrees. The sense of community and family are often generated by the care and dedication teachers provide daily
