Strings is a Northside ISD after school program for 5th graders who aspire to be violinist. The fine arts program allows them to learn how to play the violin and prepare them to join the middle school orchestra.
Villarreal Elementary School student, Kevin, who was born without a hand, always had a love for music but thought that learning how to play the violin was out of the question due to his physical disability. His mother could not afford a prosthetic that would allow him the opportunity to play an instrument.
Librarian Mrs. Welzenbach took on the task of helping Kevin. Along with her husband, she researched and created a 3 person team that was able to develop a device that would allow Kevin to hold and play the violin and make his dream come true!
