The excitement is palpable among the students and their parents as they eagerly anticipate the opportunity to be scouted,” says Claudia Casso, the Theater Arts Director. During the recent International Thespian Festival this past summer, Ava Duquette, a student at FAA, engaged in a conversation with a representative from the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. As a result of this connection, the AAC received and submitted a nomination form. Earlier, Casso and the students received the news that their school had been selected as a “Rising Star,” a recognition that places the fine arts students in contention for potential college scholarships.

Casso explains, “Students have the chance to be chosen for a scholarship of either $15,000 or $10,000 per year for the college degree conservatory program. Furthermore, students may also have the opportunity to receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend a 4-week summer intensive program. All actors in the cast of ‘Treasure Island’ are eligible for these opportunities.” A representative from the Conservatory will be in attendance at one of the two performances of ‘Treasure Island’ at the Edgewood Theater of Performing Arts.”
