We are currently so bombarded with information about coronavirus and COVID-19 that it can be confusing and sometimes overwhelming. There are so many contradicting opinions that seem to evolve daily, and it’s difficult to keep up. For some young children, this uncertainty can be scary or cause anxiety. For older kids, they may be stressed because of questions about how to navigate distance learning and manage their time.

Our San Antonio- area public school counselors are available to help alleviate some of that stress and uncertainty. Many schools have set up reference pages on their websites tailored to their individual communities. Several school counselors offer guidance online via video conferencing with Zoom or Google Hangouts.  Parents and students are encouraged to explore and utilize the many free resources and support that is available through their local school districts.

Fort Sam Houston ISD counselor Jessica Garza remotely counsels a new student to Robert G. Cole Middle/High School.
