April is the Month of the Military Child and a designated time to celebrate our brave and resilient military children! Since 1986, we have shown appreciation for the sacrifices that military children and their families make by wearing purple on Purple Up day.
Purple is a combination of the colors of all military branches- Army green, Navy blue, Air Force blue, Marine red, and Coast Guard blue. (Military Benefits Info.com). Every April, schools are usually encouraged to honor military children and Purple Up Day by hosting special events and incorporating the theme into their schedules. (DoDEA.edu)
Our San Antonio-area teachers, students, and staff have kept the tradition alive this year by applauding military families and children from home!
