Flag Football competition is one of the newest officially recognized sports of the 22 sports offered by Special Olympic competition and it’s growing in Texas.  Early in December the San Antonio STAR Soccer Complex hosted the Special Olympics Texas State Flag Football Championship and JISD sent two teams to the competition. Both the Patriots and the Thunder-Rockets came out of the Region 20 competition with silver medals.  This time around at the state level they were among 25 teams…including two from Chicago that took the field.

These JISD teams showed they were well coached and disciplined playing well on both sides of the ball.  These athletes mowed through the competition, including the invaders from Chicago! They played JISD football and won the Special Olympics Flag Football State Championship. Patriots and Thunder-Rockets one football family, one State Championship! Congratulations to these Special Olympians.
