Lackland ISD Superintendent Colonel Burnie Roper retired from the Army in December after 35 years of military service. Lackland ISD JROTC led students and staff with a sendoff to his final weekend of service in celebration for his work and dedication to serving our country.
Dr. Roper began his education career in 1991 as a mathematics teacher, and he worked his way up to assistant principal, principal, and superintendent. He has spent fifteen of his twenty -eight years of service in public education at Lackland ISD. Dr. Roper is a role model and inspiration to the students that he serves.
