NORTH EAST ISD’S AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM ENGAGES STUDENTS WITH HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES

North East ISD students in the Kids’ Involvement Network (KIN) afterschool program participate in a variety of engaging activities.  The KIN afternoon program schedule includes time for homework, a healthy snack, exercise, and hands-on enrichment projects.

The DoSeum, San Antonio’s museum for children, partnered with Huebner Elementary School’s KIN program to make slime during a Zoom session.  A DoSeum educator led the virtual Slimetastic STEM lesson with students on the cafeteria stage. The KIN students unboxed ingredients, recorded observations in a journal, and created their own slime.

This hands-on science lesson is one of many examples of the innovative learning opportunities the KIN afterschool program has to offer.
