Learning goes beyond the classroom when it comes to teaching our students about community service and compassion for their fellow students and their families. This defines the Edgewood Cares Community Outreach Program comprised of students, staff and community members. In this most recent project, a home where four of our students reside with a grandmother, her two adult daughters, and a newborn, was painted and minor repairs were made. The John F. Kennedy High School Random Acts of Kindness Club and the Memorial High School National Honor Society contributed to the project. Furniture and other supplies were donated by FAMSA Furniture, Dittmar Lumber Co. and Allen and Allen Co. Lumber & Hardware. Edgewood Cares Program Going Strong One hundred students from Cisneros Elementary School earned a bike after keeping up their grades, having good attendance, and putting in several hours of learning about bike safety and internet safety. The students built their bikes with volunteers from Earn-A-Bike. The non-profit organization partnered with Google Fiber for the bike donations.
