Southside ISD came together to celebrate their community and culture through its district-wide “Fiesta and Cinco de Mayo” celebration. The vibrant event brought together students, families, and staff by connecting them to meaningful community traditions and fostering inclusivity.

In preparation for the event, students engaged in hands-on projects that included creating their own parade floats and participating in traditional Mexican folklórico dance performances. These creative and educational activities aimed to provide Southside ISD students a stronger connection and understanding of Hispanic heritage and culture.

“We love to see our families and our communities come out and celebrate with us,” shared Tanya Mares, Principal at Col. Miguel Menchaca Early Childhood Center. Southside ISD proudly celebrates all its students and is dedicated to making every student feel like they belong.
