Back in October, Brazoswood High School and Brazosport ISD made history as the Brazoswood Girls Water Polo Team captured their first-ever State Water Polo Title. This week, the celebration continued as the team was honored with a championship ring ceremony held at the Brazoswood Field House. Family, friends, coaches, and district administrators gathered to recognize the athletes for their incredible achievement and dedication throughout the 2024 season.
The custom-designed rings featured a large “B” for Brazoswood, the team’s 28–2 season record, and a touch of hot pink to commemorate the tie-dye shirts worn during the state tournament. Each ring also carried the school’s mantra, “Where Ya From,” engraved inside. The seniors Gigi Lower, Mallory Kessler, Sarah Mitterling, Lexie Mican, and Anna Reuschle led the design process, aiming for something bold yet unique from the boys’ state rings awarded in 2022.
The ceremony held special meaning for players like Gigi Lower, who joined her brothers Ethan and Jack as state champions, and for sophomore Kesleigh Corn, whose brother Kasen presented her ring.
Since water polo was added to UIL competition in 2022, Brazoswood has reached the state tournament every year, steadily building toward this milestone. As preparations begin for the 2025 season, the team remains focused and motivated to carry their momentum into another competitive year.
