At Fort Sam Houston ISD, volunteers from the Fort Sam Houston Elementary PTO helped organize a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) fair that brought students and their families together for a day focused on mindfulness, kindness, and connection.

Students learned valuable problem-solving skills and participated in hands-on activities, including making calming beads and creating kind cards to share with others. In addition to the fun activities, the PTO provided food for all who attended.

What is SEL? Social and Emotional Learning is a process that helps students develop self-awareness, manage emotions, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. To learn more about SEL, visit the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL).
