Bringing the Joy of Reading to Round Rock ISD

Students with their chosen book at the Book Drive event

Students at Round Rock ISD’s Bluebonnet Elementary received a special visit from the Texas Stars as they helped distribute books through the Book Drive for Kids event. In Round Rock ISD, early literacy remains a priority, and initiatives like this ensure that every child has access to reading materials.

Book Drive for Kids partners with community organizations, primarily Title One schools, to provide free book fairs at no cost to schools or families. Each child selects their own book—often their very first—without adult intervention, reinforcing the importance of book ownership. A brief presentation on book selection, reading levels, and genres further enhances the experience.

The Texas Stars Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the community through various forms of support including financial contributions, gifts in kind and volunteerism.

By fostering a love for reading, programs like this empower students and strengthen literacy in the community.
