The Green Valley Elementary and John A. Sippel Elementary from Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD, welcomed the Texas Wildlife Association (TWA) for a fun and hands-on learning experience about birds. Led by TWA presenter Yvonne Keranen, students explored bird anatomy, physical traits, behaviors, and habitats, gaining a better understanding of what makes a bird unique and how different species adapt to survive in their environments.

Through interactive activities, students identified birds by their skulls and feet, tested different bird beak types to see how they help with feeding, measured wingspans, and listened to bird calls. They also learned how birds use their specialized features to find food, build nests, and protect themselves from predators. This experience sparked curiosity, encouraged critical thinking, and helped students develop a deeper appreciation for the wildlife around them.

TWA is dedicated to protecting Texas wildlife and its habitats while supporting conservation efforts, property rights, and hunting heritage. Their visit provided an exciting and meaningful way for students to connect with nature, inspiring them to learn more about the environment and the importance of wildlife conservation.
