Building Community at Fort Sam Houston ISD

At Fort Sam Houston ISD, community spirit shines strong thanks to the efforts of Fort Sam Houston Elementary’s PTO. Through events that bring families and the community together, the district’s youngest students receive support from these dedicated volunteers.

The year started off with Donuts with Grownups, where Pre-K students were welcomed with plenty of smiles and sweet treats!

The PTO also organized the first House Color Lunch of the school year, providing snacks and over 250 free shirts to students and teachers. Each month, this event highlights one of the school’s seven core character traits (caring, citizenship, fairness, honesty, respect, responsibility, and trustworthiness) to promote positive mentoring among students and staff.

Lastly, a First Grade Literacy Night welcomed first graders and their families, providing helpful tips for at-home reading. Thanks to the community’s support, 90 books were distributed to students.
