San Marcos CISD students from Rodriguez Elementary put their money skills to the test with help from H-E-B during a hands-on learning experience. Kindergarten and 1st-grade students had the opportunity to use their money sense and budgeting knowledge to shop for items in their very own “tiny H-E-B” on campus.
With H-E-B baskets in hand, students made sure they had enough money to purchase the items on their list. Prior to their shopping trip, students began a financial literacy unit where they learned smart spending strategies and how to become a responsible shoppers.
With the help of student cashiers and volunteers, each student had the chance to practice the skills they learned all while having fun! To wrap things up, students were thrilled to meet the H-E-B mascot, H-E-Buddy, making their day extra memorable.
