Gregory-Portland ISD is proud to share that Bobbi Catalano, a student at Gregory-Portland High School, has been recognized on the national level for her outstanding artistic achievement. Her artwork, Edna Hisler, won first place in the prestigious Congressional Art Competition, representing Texas’s 27th Congressional District.
As a result of this honor, Bobbi’s piece will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, where thousands of visitors and lawmakers from across the country will see it daily. To celebrate her achievement, Bobbi traveled to Washington, D.C., where she toured the White House and met personally with Congressman Michael Cloud, who congratulated her on this remarkable accomplishment. The Congressional Art Competition is a nationwide program that celebrates the creativity and skill of high school students. Each year, a panel of local community members carefully reviews student submissions. The first-place winner earns the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol, while additional selected pieces appear in Congressman Cloud’s offices in Washington, D.C., Victoria, and Corpus Christi.
Bobbi’s winning piece not only highlights her artistic talent but also reflects the exceptional creativity emerging from South Texas. Her success serves as an inspiration for other young artists in the region and across the state.
Congratulations to Bobbi Catalano for representing Gregory-Portland ISD!
