At Richardson ISD, students came together to support one of their beloved custodians through an incredible on-campus Swim-A-Thon!
Mr. Le’s dedication to JJ Pearce High School is nothing short of extraordinary, biking over an hour to campus each and every day. Although his health complications outside of work have not made for an easy journey, leading to his unfortunate eight-week absence from campus this past school year. After learning of Mr. Le’s troubles, JJP swim students and staff quickly launched a school-wide fundraising event, hoping to raise enough money to get Mr. Le back on campus.
What began as a small fundraiser from a few swimmers soon grew into the full-scale Swim-A-Thon in less than a week. Families, students and even former alumni all showed up to show their support, as JJP swimmers swam nearly 2.5 miles across the natatorium. By the end of the event, the community had raised more than $17,000, along with a new car and bicycle in hopes of making Mr. Le’s future commute a bit easier.
Richardson ISD’s Swim-A-Thon serves as a powerful reminder that there is no limit to the difference our public schools can make!
