Alamo Heights ISD and Schools Honored as 2023 Promising Practices

Alamo Heights ISD has been honored by as 2023 Promising Practices.

Since 2016, the Alamo Heights district has been working with to fulfill the 11 Principles of Effective Character Education. The Promising Practice Award is awarded to districts and schools who implement initiatives that promote character development.

178 schools and organizations across the United States were recognized this year as Promising Practices. 21 of these were in the state of Texas and 5 from Alamo Heights ISD.

Alamo Heights ISD was honored for the Senior and Grand Mules program. It is a program created this past year to involve senior citizens and grandparents in the community. They were invited to learn about AHISD from the staff and students.

The schools recognized were:

Alamo Heights High School for their Heights Clothes Closet.

Alamo Height Junior School for their Junior School Ambassador program.

Cambridge Elementary for their Hooah Huddle. This program consists of military-connected students headed by military-connected staff and parent volunteers.

Woodridge Elementary for Dream Week. This is a week filled with activities for students to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It also allows students to explore different colleges and careers.
