Brazoswood High School Student Council of Brazosport ISD presents project

Brazoswood High School, from Brazosport ISD, has achieved significant recognition from the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) by being awarded the prestigious Sweepstakes distinction. This honor acknowledges the school’s outstanding achievements in leadership, service, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall school environment and the surrounding community.

TASC, a non-profit, sponsors the Sweepstakes award for Texas student councils, aiming to cultivate leadership skills, advocate for democracy, and uphold high standards. With nearly 1200 member schools, TASC is the largest state student council organization in the US, striving for better school environments and a positive impact.

Participating in Brazoswood High School’s Student Council allows students to develop their skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making. These activities benefit the community and enhance students’ academic and civic engagement. Stephanie Jess, the advisor, praised the members and officers for their dedication in fostering a culture of pride. Jess emphasized that the award reflects the students’ determination, affirming the value of hard work and commitment in achieving success.

Kate Schwertner, the Senior Class President of Brazoswood Student Council, expressed excitement and pride in receiving this esteemed recognition. Schwertner highlighted the tireless commitment of the student council. The award serves as a symbol of their dedication to nurturing a positive school culture and fostering a sense of pride. “It feels so rewarding to have the opportunity to win this award. Our student council puts in countless hours of work every week planning events for our school. We try our best to build our school’s culture and pride and this award symbolizes that for us,” says Schwertner.
