San Antonio’s homeless population consists of approximately 2,743 people on any given day. There are many different needs and ways to help, including one that is led by a 15-year-old from Alamo Heights Independent School District named Addie Roberts.

Addie is an ambassador for Teens Give Back, SATX which is committed to helping the underserved and underprivileged. Addie told News 4 San Antonio anchor David Chancellor about her new endeavor. She is collecting plastic bags, which are then transformed into sleeping mats for the homeless population.

It takes several hundred bags to make one mat, so they urge the community to donate. If you would like to donate and/or find out more about the organization, visit teensgivebacksa.org.
