East Central JROTC Connects with Community

East Central JROTC at 9/11 event

East Central ISD High School JROTC members went above and beyond to lend a helping hand to their community. The Cadets cleaned a two mile stretch on FM 1628 between US Highway 87 and New Sulphur Springs Road. At least twice a semester, Hornet JROTC Cadets take care of their Adopt-a-Highway area, making the area more beautiful, and learning about public service and civic responsibility.

The Cadets also connected with community members to commemorate 9/11 by supporting more than a thousand firefighters, law enforcement, military and other first responders. Hornet Cadets provided water and drinks to support these emergency workers who symbolically climbed 952 steps inside the Tower of the Americas in full gear TWICE to remember those who sacrificed their lives to save others in the Twin Towers. The event was a success with the help of these young volunteers serving their community.

Meanwhile, East Central ISD middle school students got out of school and into career exploration at Main Event. Thanks to the generosity of Motivate our Students Texas (M.O.S.T.) and Dr. Eli Whitney, these explorers learned about entertainment management, traveling for opening new locations and training opportunities, and how to work as a team. They also got to experience working with Main Event customers! Cheers to East Central ISD students connecting with their community to clean up, care for others, and learn more about career opportunities!
