Alvin ISD proudly celebrated a sweep of state track championships at Iowa Colony High School, where both the boys and girls teams claimed consecutive UIL team titles—this time in the 5A division. The boys set two Class 5A state meet relay records, topping the podium in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, and secured first place with 74 points. The girls defended their title in 4A, then delivered a strong showing in 5A, notably winning the 4×400 relay to clinch the team championship.

Standout athletes played a key role in the wins. Junior sprinter Jayden Warren helped break both relay records, while Ashtyn Lewis, a sophomore, defended her 400m crown and took silver in the 200m. The boys’ 4×400 relay team also contributed, securing another gold as the Pioneers amassed enough points to claim the conference title.

Following the state meet, both teams were honored with a State Ring Ceremony on June 23, 2025, attended by athletes, coaches, and community supporters .
The achievement is especially impressive given the school’s recent transition to 5A after opening in 2022. “Just because you go up a classification doesn’t mean the competition is harder. You just have to put in the work,” said coach Aundra Long, praising the team’s chemistry and dedication.
This remarkable athletic performance continues to build Iowa Colony’s reputation. Win or lose, these student-athletes are setting the standard for future Pioneers.
