Gregory-Portland ISD’s Shawn Williams achieved a major milestone, scoring his 2,000th career point during the Wildcats’ home opener. Williams was dominant on the court, leading his team with an impressive 34 points, securing the victory.

The game was a memorable one for the Wildcats, with Williams’ historic achievement coming in front of a home crowd. As one of the standout players in the area, Williams has been a key contributor to the team’s success, and this milestone only adds to his growing legacy.

Head Coach Sean Armstrong credits Williams’ drive and improvement to his deep passion for basketball. “The biggest key to Shawn’s development honestly has been Shawn and his work. We’ve done work coaching him, but you can’t get that inner drive in kids that just want to go out and improve. He’s a true gym rat, and that’s why he’s so good,” said Armstrong.
As the Gregory-Portland Wildcats continue their season, William’s milestone marks just one of many achievements to come, with Williams leading the charge for his team’s success in the district and beyond.
