Judson ISD graduate, Spencer Burford, helped the San Fransisco 49ers score the first touchdown of Super Bowl LVIII, exciting friends, family, and many fans back in San Antonio. As his team members moved towards the end zone, Burford was able to intercept Chiefs linebacker, Nick Bolton, before he could stop his teammates from reaching their goal. Thanks to Burford’s quick thinking, the 49ers were able to score the first touchdown of the game, putting them up 10-0 with 4:23 left before halftime.
Burford graduated from Judson ISD’s Wagner High School after attending Kirby Middle and Hopkins Elementary Schools, and went on to play football for the University of Texas at San Antonio. Even though he was no longer an active student at Judson ISD, he continued giving back to his district and community by volunteering at football games through the Judson Education Foundation and Judson ISD Athletics program. In addition to Burford’s connection to the district as an alumnus, his mother is still one of Wagner High Schools fantastic teachers!
We love seeing this Judson ISD graduate achieve success and continue to give back to his district and community!
