Alamo Heights ISD children are taught to love one another. A special way students learn this valuable life lesson is by engaging in an uncommon elementary school practice–engineering.

Where many adults might see a field that would have no use for a fifth grader, a teacher at Woodridge Elementary, James Robles, saw the opportunity to teach the importance of showing our loved ones we care in an unexpected way.

Students used their technology and engineering software to develop heartfelt messages to the people they love the most. Thinking critically and creatively in their work furthers students’ future success. In a world where curriculum matters for our children, taking the time to develop imaginative lesson plans that enlighten students speaks volumes for Alamo Heights’ initiative and care.
