Bastrop ISD recently hosted their very first BISD BBQ Cook-Off, inviting Cedar Creek High School’s competitive barbecue team, Meat the Creek, that competed at the High School BBQ State Competition back in 2024.
Held between Bastrop High School and Cedar Creek High School, the event featured student-prepared brisket, chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and desserts, judged by a panel on appearance, tenderness, and taste.
In a close finish, Bastrop High School won with a total of 471 points, just beating Cedar Creek’s impressive 469 points. The event was a great show of student talent and teamwork. A big part of the success is thanks to Team Services and ACIS for their support in making the event possible, including providing the barbecue pit used by both campuses throughout the week.
