At Fairfield ISD, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide array of activities, whether inside the classroom through engaging, hands-on projects or outside the classroom in clubs and exciting field trips. These opportunities give students the chance to discover their interests and enjoy activities beyond school.
At Fairfield Elementary, Mrs. Isaacs’ Pre-K class explored the science of fall in a fun and meaningful way. They learned about fall and why the leaves change color by collecting leaves outdoors, listening to fall-themed stories, graphing their favorite leaf activities, and even creating “leaf men.”
At the same elementary school, the kindergarten students recently wrapped up their Bluebonnet unit on plants and are now beginning a unit on farming. To explore the science of plant growth and learn more about the farming industry firsthand, the students visited farm animals, including chickens and goats, and took a closer look at crops and vegetables.
The engaging and fun learning experience doesn’t stop in elementary school at Fairfield ISD. At Fairfield High School, Ms. Ellis’ Floral Design students launched the new FISD Staff Floral Club to gain real-world floral experience. Club members handled every step from ordering and processing flowers, to designing the arrangements and delivering them to staff across the district. Each bouquet included a special “Meet Your Designer” card highlighting the student who created it.
Fairfield High School also offers students the chance to use what they have learned in class and apply it to a possible career field. For example, Mrs. Johnson’s Health Science class finished their first day of CNA clinicals at Fairfield Nursing and Rehab.
