Shallowater ISD Builds Paths to Medical Careers

Shallowater ISD is providing its students at Shallowater High School with a wide range of meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that can lead them toward future careers in healthcare.

In one Health Science class, students used a simulation model to practice administering injections and learned how to properly draw blood.

Over in Medical Terminology, students had the opportunity to create their own burn and wound case studies, and then brought them to life with special effects makeup. Meanwhile, in Pharmacology, students were able to explore different types of oral medications and learned how to fill capsule prescriptions.

Additionally, Shallowater High School has a Medical Club, which provides various opportunities for any student who is interested in careers in the medical field. Club members participate in special projects such as health fairs, blood drives, and volunteer work at hospitals, allowing them to serve their community.
