Smithville ISD Culinary Students Win at Escoffier

Smithville ISD culinary students competing

Culinary students from Smithville High School traveled to Austin, Texas, to participate in one of the most prestigious youth culinary competitions in the state. The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts hosted its 11th annual “Young Escoffier” competition, where 36 teams from across Texas competed in a high-level culinary challenge.

Working in teams of four, students were given a mystery basket of ingredients and 60 minutes to create and plate a dish. Students were scored based on presentation, technical skill, and flavor profile. Culinary instructors Ms Herrick and Chef Lena Reed mentored and guided the Smithville ISD students , helping them develop their professionalism and skills throughout their entire competition journey.

By demonstrating their outstanding teamwork and creativity, Smithville High School students earned 2nd place and a $2,000 scholarship each to continue their culinary education. This impressive accomplishment marks just the beginning for these culinary stars futures!
