The Hondo ISD FFA poultry team traveled to compete in two practice contests, the East Central Invitational and the San Antonio Rodeo. While waiting for the results, the team took the opportunity to expand their knowledge of poultry science. At the San Antonio Rodeo, they worked hard and secured 30th place, showing their dedication to improving their skills.

Meanwhile, the Hondo FFA meats judging team also had a successful weekend. They competed at the San Antonio Livestock Exposition (SALE) Meats Judging Contest, ranking 6th as a team. Students took on challenges like completing a written exam, evaluating beef carcasses for quality and yield, identifying different meat cuts, and judging beef, lamb, and pork carcasses. Their commitment to learning and refining their skills paid off in the competition.
A major highlight of the weekend was Carynn Jacobs being named the high individual of the contest. Jacobs earned an incredible $10,000 scholarship for her outstanding performance. This recognition was a testament to her hard work, knowledge, and dedication to meats judging, making it a moment of great pride for the team and supporters.

These accomplishments were proof of the hard work and dedication of both Hondo ISD teams. Their commitment to learning and improving their skills paid off, and their success in these competitions was well-earned. Congratulations to all the team members for their impressive performance!
