Katy ISD’s Robotics students from various Katy ISD schools had the opportunity to put their STEM skills to use at the first Texas District Championship and the UIL State Championship! Students from Cinco Ranch HS, Jordan HS, Mayde Creek HS, Paetow HS, Tompkins HS, and Seven Lakes HS were all part of the lucky schools who took part in these events.
At the UIL State Championships, students were expected to build and think about ways in which robotics and engineering could help scientists with ocean exploration. The teams from Katy ISD were split into two divisions, Apollo and Mercury. In the Mercury division, Jordan HS advanced to the Mercury semifinals. Where they earned a Creativity Award for being able to shoot algae into a barge.
Another team from the Mercury division was Cinco Ranch HS. Cinco Ranch HS also earned an achievement, where they finished as Mercury division finalists. Their well-done performance even earned them a spot at the World Robotics Championship.
Katy ISD is very proud of all Robotics Program Students for their huge work and their impressive performances!
