Springtown ISD Brings STEM to Life with Camp Invention

Springtown ISD students had the opportunity to participate in Camp Invention, a STEM program that encourages creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. Students tackled real-world problems through four themed workshops with the help of teachers and student volunteers.

Over the course of the camp, students were a part of the Illusion Workshop™, where they learned the science behind several optical illusions often used in films. This was done by designing their own animation devices, giving an insight into how inventors bring an idea to life. In Claw Arcade™, students were introduced to physics and engineering concepts. They then applied these concepts to design and build their working claw machines. They created business pitches to present their inventions, simulating how real entrepreneurs market new ideas. During Penguin Launch™, students programmed robotic rovers to explore penguin habitats and engineered launchers to send plush penguins on environmental missions. For the last workshop, In Control™, students were able to operate control panels and explore how artificial intelligence can be seen on a day-to-day basis.

At Camp Invention, Springtown ISD students used STEM ideas to solve real-world problems through fun, hands-on activities. They worked together while thinking creatively as they built important science and engineering skills they can use every day.
