Wichita Falls ISD Launches Book Vending Machines

Wichita Falls ISD celebrates literacy and community partnership! Two brand-new book vending machines were unveiled at two different schools within the district — one at Booker T. Washington Elementary and one at Scotland Park Elementary.

This exciting initiative, led by the WFISD Foundation and made possible through the generosity of Atmos Energy, gives students the opportunity to “purchase” books with special tokens earned as incentives. Each student gets to select a book of their choice and take it home to start or add to their own home library!

Dr. Lee, members of the WFISD Foundation board, and Atmos Energy representatives joined the grand ribbon-cutting ceremony to watch students receive their very first books from the new machines.

Aiming to eventually have a book vending machine at every elementary school in WFISD — helping to foster a lifelong love of reading and confidence in literacy across the district.
