Friendswood ISD’s Day of Service Initiative

Friendswood ISD spotlighted its commitment to kindness and civic responsibility through a powerful district-wide service initiative, Friendswood Day of Service. Across campuses, students, staff, and administrators engaged in projects that emphasized compassion, wellness, creativity, and community support.

The Friendswood High School Girls Soccer Team, Band members, FFA, and several staff volunteers dedicated their time at the Friendswood Animal Shelter. They cleaned kennels, provided care and attention to animals, and helped with adoption efforts. Their work helped provide a more welcoming and comfortable environment for animals in need.

At Friendswood Junior High, FISDCares led a set of immersive service activities centered around wellness and student connection. Volunteers assembled READY SET RESCUE kits designed for emergency use, which included Narcan boxes, gloves, towelettes, and bilingual instructions. These kits will be distributed throughout the community. Additional stations supported small-group projects used across campuses, including personalized “All About Me” books, goal-setting activities, and crafts that foster self-esteem and belonging. The campus also hosted a Blood Drive, where students and staff contributed to lifesaving efforts through blood donations.

The FHS Art Club contributed by painting rain barrels for local elementary schools and Stevenson Park. The project paired creativity with sustainability, transforming everyday objects into functional public art. The Art Club is also collaborating with local artist Camille Christoffel on a mural planned for the community Dog Park.

District administrators extended the spirit of service by restocking Blessing Boxes located around town with snacks and essential supplies. These community boxes support individuals and families experiencing need and are a small but meaningful way to spread generosity.

Friendswood ISD also encouraged families to support local businesses through the “Support Local 2025” campaign, emphasizing the importance of shopping, dining, and engaging with the neighborhood establishments that help the city thrive. The initiative emphasized that service can take many forms, including boosting the local economy and recognizing the contributions of small business owners.
