Corsicana ISD’s Paige Cates, senior from Corsicana High School, was among those recognized during Navarro College’s 12th annual scholarship breakfast.

Cates’ essay finished third among county students, earning her a $1,500 scholarship to Navarro, sponsored by VeraBank. Former CISD administrator Dr. Adrain Johnson, Superintendent of Hearne ISD, delivered the keynote address.
The Class of ‘73 Frost graduate tailored his message for the students and it centered on building a foundation for life.

The VeraBank scholarship program began in 2017 and has since awarded $90,000 in scholarships to 40 recipients. Selections are based on the students’ merit, academic performance, content and completeness of replies and application, as well as school and community involvement.
By recognizing academic excellence and extracurricular involvement, VeraBank and the Corsicana ISD scholarship are fostering the opportunity for higher education and growth of future leaders and scholars.
