Austin ISD successfuly tackles the tough challenge of engaging young students. This time, they work hard to get students excited about STEM.

Showcases for young students that highlight STEM programs like one at Bertha Sadler Means Academy that emphasized Project Lead the Way, a STEM focused school-integrated program, are greatly beneficial in encouraging students to learn about the wonderful worlds of science, technology, engineering, and math.

We can see performance growth directly related to the classrooms and said STEM programs that AISD offers. Students have gone on to compete in and win various competitions throughout the United States, including the NASA TechRise Student Challenge.

Here, 6th through 12th graders design and test their own project in the engineering competition, and AISD’s very own Lively Middle School was one of sixty winners out of the entire nation.
Promoting these amazing programs, and seeing the hard work of educators, students, and everyone in between pay off is a special thing, and its all thanks to AISD’s emphasis on the importance of STEM for our children. Let’s get students excited about STEM!
