New Member District Information

Our San Antonio-area Independent School Districts serve 340,238 students. Our school zones are broken up into ISDs (school districts).

The districts cover Bexar, the Hill Country, Comal, and Wilson counties.

Principals, teachers, counselors, nurses, and maintenance are a few of the roles working together to create an environment that is safe and supportive. Academics and extracurricular clubs provide opportunities to all students with varying interests and skill levels.

Dr. Stacy Ackley Superintendent Royal ISD

Dr. Stacy Ackley

Dr. Stacy Ackley is in his fifth year as the superintendent for Royal ISD. Prior to joining RISD, Ackley served for five years as the superintendent of Colmesneil ISD and has 24 years of experience in Texas Education as a professional educator. Ackley was born in Houston and moved to Springtown, Texas at the age of 11. He graduated from Springtown High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He then studied at Tarleton State University for his master’s degree in Education as well. Ackley is a member of cohort XIX Superintendent’s Academy of The Center for Executive Leadership at Lamar University. He received his doctoral degree from Lamar University in May 2017. Ackley is married to Dana and has four children. His oldest son, Colton, is in the Navy and his younger son, Connor, is a senior attending Royal High School. He also has two daughters, Tarynn who attends Royal Junior High and Rylee who attends the Royal STEM Academy.
