Our San Antonio-area Independent School Districts serve 340,238 students. Our school zones are broken up into ISDs (school districts).
The districts cover Bexar, the Hill Country, Comal, and Wilson counties.
Principals, teachers, counselors, nurses, and maintenance are a few of the roles working together to create an environment that is safe and supportive. Academics and extracurricular clubs provide opportunities to all students with varying interests and skill levels.
Twenty-two years ago, Dr. Bashara stepped into room 503 of Woodridge Elementary to begin her career as a fifth-grade teacher in Alamo Heights ISD. Since that day, she has excelled in every role she has taken on including teacher, assistant principal, principal and assistant superintendent – and has been instrumental in helping the district develop and implement its strategic plans. Dr. Bashara has earned numerous awards and recognitions during her career in the district. The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association named her 2013-2014 TEPSAN of the Year. She received the Yellow Rose of Texas Education Award for outstanding contributions to leadership in education from the Constance Allen Heritage Guild. And most recently, the San Antonio Business Journal named her a Woman in Leadership Award Recipient in 2017.Go Mules!
