Our San Antonio-area Independent School Districts serve 340,238 students. Our school zones are broken up into ISDs (school districts).
The districts cover Bexar, the Hill Country, Comal, and Wilson counties.
Principals, teachers, counselors, nurses, and maintenance are a few of the roles working together to create an environment that is safe and supportive. Academics and extracurricular clubs provide opportunities to all students with varying interests and skill levels.
Dr. Mark Henry graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1984 with a bachelor in secondary education. He received a Master of Education in administration from the University of North Texas in 1989 and a Doctor of Education in administration in 1992.
Dr. Henry began his career as a superintendent of schools in 1991 and has served as an educator for 40 years. Before accepting the position in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District as superintendent in 2011, Dr. Henry was superintendent of schools for Galena Park ISD, a position he had held since 2004. During his tenure in Galena Park ISD, Dr. Henry was named ATPE Texas Administrator of the Year. During his time in CFISD, he was named Region 4 ESC Superintendent of the Year and a finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Henry is a member of the Texas Association of School Administrators. He has served as a UIL Legislative Council representative since 1999 and was the chairman from 2006-2007. He was a trustee for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas from 2003-2009 and served as the vice chairman from 2008-2009. Dr. Henry served as the chairman for the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce in 2018 and is currently a trustee for the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation Leadership Committee and a trustee for HCA Houston Healthcare.
Dr. Henry and his wife, Cindy, who is a retired middle school principal, have three children and seven grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys family time, golfing and community involvement.
