Needville middle school students attended a STEM tour at Minute Maid. During the tour, students got the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math in the world of baseball. The tour focused on the physics of baseball, how statistics are computed and used, the engineering marvels of a retractable roof stadium, and more.
Sports are integrating STEM education more and more, particularly in the areas of analysis and performance enhancement. Sports teams and organizations employ technology, biomechanics, and data analytics to improve player performance, improve training techniques, and make wise judgments.
Minute Maid hosts a variety of educational tours ranging from the STEM tour mentioned above, to career day tours. The sports industry is quickly growing and these tours are a great opportunity for schools to branch into the field of sports and learn about what it has to offer.
